Moment Connection

Moment connection according to NEN-EN 1993-1-8 + C2/NB

Calculate moment connections quickly and easily. Bolted or welded. The user interface is unique and very user-friendly. By clicking on the numbers in the dimension lines you can adjust the dimensions.

Moment Connection

Verification according to NEN-EN 1993-1-8 + C2 / national annex

  • Calculation of moment resistance Mj,Rd
  • Redistribution of resistances per bolt row to determine maximum Mj,Rd
  • Calculation of connection stiffness
  • Display of moment-rotation diagram
  • Classification of connection: rigid/flexible or hinged
  • No 'black-box' calculation but clear output with written out NEN-EN 1993 formulas. The calculation can therefore also be manually checked step by step and gives you more insight into which factors are governing.

Moment Connection Output

Input in the drawing

In the drawing of the connection you can change almost everything. You can change all dimensions by clicking the number in the dimension line. See Modifying Distances.

You can also change the profiles, beam lengths, beam angles and loads in the drawing. That is not only fast but also intuitive. The calculation results can be shown on the right, docked, or as a separate window on a second monitor. With every change the calculation is carried out and the results are immediately visible, so you can see the effect of your change. You have all the data in view, both the input and the calculation output.

FieldDescription
LbLength of the beam. This value can be changed in the drawing. It only matters for assessing the rotational stiffness of the connection (rigid / flexible / hinged)
Beam angleAngle of the beam

FieldDescription
Beams symmetricalWith a double connection (left and right) you can set whether both are identical (symmetrical) or not. You then change one side and the other side changes automatically
Number of bolt rowsThe number of bolt rows is at least 2
BoltChoice of the selected bolt diameter
Haunch topNone / Haunch without flange / Haunch with flange
Haunch bottomNone / Haunch without flange / Haunch with flange
Backing platesSetting whether backing plates are applied
